SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 1, 2000) — Visa U.S.A. continues to meet the changing needs of its member financial institutions. The company announced today it has signed an agreement to provide a highly integrated payment solution for OmniAmerican Federal Credit Union. The solution will combine Visa's Debit Processing Service (DPS), the new Visa check card II product, and access to the Interlink and the Visa/PLUS Global ATM Network. The agreement makes OmniAmerican one of the largest issuers of the Visa check card II product in the southeast.

OmniAmerican has issued more than 35,000 Visa check cards since it was introduced in the first quarter of 2000. The results have far exceeded projections, generating $26.3 million in sales volume last quarter and an active account percentage (70%) that is much higher than the national average (55%).

What are people saying about mortgages today:

Rates on 30-year mortgages edged down last week to a seven-month low. Mortgage-giant Freddie Mac reported Thursday that 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages fell to 6.3 percent, down slightly from 6.31 percent two weeks ago. It put rates at the lowest level since they were at 6.24 percent the first week of March.

Bank of Hawaii, Central Pacific Bank, Territorial Savings Bank and Wells Fargo Home Mortgages all cut their 30-year mortgage rates to 5.75 percent this week.
