Centennial Software, a developer of endpoint security and IT asset discovery solutions, today announced that Financial Partners Credit Union, Mountain America Credit Union and Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union have selected DeviceWall to help control portable devices (iPods, PDAs, Flash Drives, etc.) on the corporate network and secure member information from the threat of data theft.

"In today's information rich environment, ensuring that member data is safe and properly managed is a vital component of our IT strategy," said Rob Ballard, IT Support Manager at PSECU. "Traditionally, we've focused on network level security such as firewalls to accomplish that goal. However, with the emerging threat of portable devices and the ease with which information can simply disappear from the network, DeviceWall delivers a solution that extends our security down to the desktop as well as outside the organization with encryption for mobile data."

According to Brian McCarthy, Vice President at Centennial Software, "Credit unions are at the forefront of the adoption curve for desktop endpoint security solutions. They understand that one data breach can shatter member confidence and be detrimental to their business. They also understand that controlling portable devices doesn't just involve locking down the ports on a PC. An effective solution integrates device, data and desktop security -- that's why DeviceWall is such an effective tool for businesses."

DeviceWall minimizes the threat of data leakage by enabling an organization to create a white list of 'approved' devices assigned to specified groups and individuals. To prevent sensitive data from ending up in the wrong hands, DeviceWall can automatically encrypt all data legitimately copied to USB flash drives using either AES or Blowfish 256-bit encryption algorithms. Through its unique Connection Auditor, DeviceWall also allows an organization to see the potential threat from portable devices by monitoring connection attempts in real time.

What are people saying about mortgages today:

Rates on 30-year mortgages edged down last week to a seven-month low. Mortgage-giant Freddie Mac reported Thursday that 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages fell to 6.3 percent, down slightly from 6.31 percent two weeks ago. It put rates at the lowest level since they were at 6.24 percent the first week of March.

Bank of Hawaii, Central Pacific Bank, Territorial Savings Bank and Wells Fargo Home Mortgages all cut their 30-year mortgage rates to 5.75 percent this week.

Most people think of a mortgage as a means to an end. After all, you buy a house, not a home loan. But a mortgage is much more than the path to homeownership. It is a financial instrument that must be managed, just like any other financial investment.
