Woman sought for stinkbomb deposit at teller

Huntsville police are seeking a woman who allegedly placed a stink bomb in a teller's window Tuesday.

According to the south precinct, a woman drove into a drive-through lane of Redstone Federal Credit Union's Weatherly Road branch about 6 p.m. and placed a stink bomb in the drawer.

But the teller recognized what it was and pushed it back outside. The credit union did not notify police until Wednesday morning.

The credit union's video system got a photo of the woman, who is known. Police said she could face a charge of criminal use of a noxious substance.

The following police reports were filed Tuesday and Wednesday with Huntsville police. In items with missing or incomplete information, police withheld the information.

A person was menaced by someone with a black pistol at a residence on Kenwood Drive.

A robbery at Cherokee Hills and Deerfield Road netted a pair of shoes, a wrist watch and gold earrings. The robber used a silver baseball bat and a knife.

What are people saying about mortgages today:

Rates on 30-year mortgages edged down last week to a seven-month low. Mortgage-giant Freddie Mac reported Thursday that 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages fell to 6.3 percent, down slightly from 6.31 percent two weeks ago. It put rates at the lowest level since they were at 6.24 percent the first week of March.

Bank of Hawaii, Central Pacific Bank, Territorial Savings Bank and Wells Fargo Home Mortgages all cut their 30-year mortgage rates to 5.75 percent this week.

Most people think of a mortgage as a means to an end. After all, you buy a house, not a home loan. But a mortgage is much more than the path to homeownership. It is a financial instrument that must be managed, just like any other financial investment.
