PITTSBURGH -- Some Sky Bank customers are looking for answers after their account information was sent by mail to the wrong people.

Customers are wondering who got their private data and what they will do with it.

They also want to know how the mix-up happened in the first place.

Two neighbors noticed their financial paperwork was mixed up.

Joy McCollum was worried about people’s sense of privacy after she received someone else’s statement.

“The lady's statement that I got […] had her bank account number and her balance,” said McCollum. “That's not right for me to know her things.”

Thomas Loxley also shared his alarm.

“The more I learn, the more concerned I get because I don't know how big this is,” said Loxley.

Sky Bank has offered to change the affected customers' account numbers.

You can read more about the mix-up in Friday’s edition of the Beaver County Times.

What are people saying about mortgages today:

Rates on 30-year mortgages edged down last week to a seven-month low. Mortgage-giant Freddie Mac reported Thursday that 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages fell to 6.3 percent, down slightly from 6.31 percent two weeks ago. It put rates at the lowest level since they were at 6.24 percent the first week of March.

Bank of Hawaii, Central Pacific Bank, Territorial Savings Bank and Wells Fargo Home Mortgages all cut their 30-year mortgage rates to 5.75 percent this week.

Most people think of a mortgage as a means to an end. After all, you buy a house, not a home loan. But a mortgage is much more than the path to homeownership. It is a financial instrument that must be managed, just like any other financial investment.
