AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The Detroit Shock are giving away tickets to their 2006 Playoff games…but like respect, fans who get them, are going to earn them!
Starting Tuesday, August 8, when they host Sue Bird and the Seattle Storm, the Shock will launch their “Tappin’ for Tickets” playoff promotion.
Random fans will be chosen before, during and after games to dance for playoff tickets. Shock staff members will be cruising the concourse, ShockFest and areas in the arena, asking fans to dance on camera for 2006 Playoff tickets. Fans who dance will be given tickets on the spot and will later be featured on the Shock Web site.
During the game, when the Shock host the T&C Credit Union Dance Cam, one lucky fan will be singled out for their dancing ability and receive tickets, on the spot, to the 2006 Playoffs.
“The players on our team love to dance and our fans have shown that they love to dance as well,” said Craig Turnbull, chief operating officer for the Shock. “Why not reward them for their efforts and have them out for a playoff game? We’re really looking forward to seeing some of our fans’ moves.”
The Shock currently hold the number two spot in the Eastern Conference and if the playoffs began today, Detroit would play the Indiana Fever in the first round. As the second seed, Detroit has home-court advantage in the first round. The Shock are currently 21-9 and hold a two game advantage over Indiana. However, the Shock trail Connecticut by three games for the best record in the East.
The format for the 2006 WNBA Playoffs is best-of-three for the first two rounds with the higher seeded team hosting the final two games (1-2). For the WNBA Finals, the series is best-of-five (2-2-1) with the team with best regular season record holding home-court advantage.
