Police want your help to solve two recent bank robberies.
The Liberty Bank in Miami Township was robbed Saturday morning. Police said three masked men with a gun demanded cash, but they left in a puff of red smoke when a dye pack bundled with the money exploded.
Witnesses can't believe what they saw. "Pretty unbelievable, because I just never would have imagined in broad daylight that someone would rob the bank. But as the policeman said, the banks aren't open at night," said Kimberly Brown.
Brenda Dodson was also surprised, "Yes it surprised me. Especially in broad daylight with people in the parking lot."
If you have any information, call Miami Township Police at 434-TIPS.
In Trotwood, the First Day Credit Union was robbed Friday evening and police are looking for two teenage suspects. Detectives said one teen may have robbed the cashier while the other served as a look-out.
The robbers dumped their getaway car at a nearby Value City store. The car was reported stolen just an hour before the bank heist.
Call Trotwood Police at 837-7777 if you have any information on this crime.
What are people saying about mortgages today:Rates on 30-year mortgages edged down last week to a seven-month low. Mortgage-giant Freddie Mac reported Thursday that 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages fell to 6.3 percent, down slightly from 6.31 percent two weeks ago. It put rates at the lowest level since they were at 6.24 percent the first week of March.
Bank of Hawaii, Central Pacific Bank, Territorial Savings Bank and Wells Fargo Home Mortgages all cut their 30-year mortgage rates to 5.75 percent this week.
Most people think of a mortgage as a means to an end. After all, you buy a house, not a home loan. But a mortgage is much more than the path to homeownership. It is a financial instrument that must be managed, just like any other financial investment.
